WHERE IS THE PEACE DENIAL BRINGS? - LDS Hymn Parody #66

Denial.  An interesting topic.  In my opinion, there are a lot of Mormons who are in total and complete denial.  Just like the picture says, "Denialism - Denying reality, one fact at time."  Because really, when you really examine Mormonism on an independent level (away from the areas "authorized" by the church itself), it is obviously filled with all kinds of lies, deceptions and half-truths.  And no, that isn't Anti-Mormon Propaganda, but the actual truth based on actual evidence and actual facts.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if the Mormon Church had nothing to hide, then it wouldn't matter what people read or where they research.  But the fact that the church is very concerned about its members doing research on their own is very telling.

Of course, there are many who are still counted within the ranks of Mormons who have realized the lies, know the actual truth, but have decided to "pretend" to still believe to keep the peace within their families.  Very sad.  It doesn't seem to matter what the 11th Article of Faith says... "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."  Most Mormons don't follow that philosophy, but rather berate people who decide they cannot adhere to Mormon beliefs any longer - even shunning and turning their backs against those who choose to use their free agency.  And sadly, this happens a lot within families.
 
There are so many types of Mormons:  Shadow Mormons.  Social Mormons.  Cafeteria Mormons.  Dry Mormons.  Jack Mormons.  True Believing Mormons (TBMs).  But regardless of what type of Mormons they are, they all have two things in common:  Mormonism and Denial.  Please don't get me wrong - I feel a lot of sympathy for people who find themselves trapped within Mormonism (at least in their minds), but it takes a lot of denial to not realize that staying within the parameters of something in which you don't believe (and is obviously filled with lies) has a devastating effect on a person's psyche and mental well-being.  I know because I've been there.  Thankfully, I realized several years ago that I could not "pretend" any longer, and left the fold - and I've never regretted my decision.

And so here is my 66th LDS Hymn Parody... highlighting the denial that is alive and well, and being adhered to faithfully within Mormonism.  And no, denial is not a river in Egypt...

Where is the peace denial brings
To Mormons everywhere?
Just following as they are told,
Their thoughts they cannot share.

So sad their lives are intertwined
In Mormonism’s ploy.
But sadder still to realize
It strips your life of joy.

The bottom line, your peace of mind
And how you feel inside,
Is tied up in your happiness
And cannot be denied.

To live your life authentically,
And not give in to fear,
Accept the false philosophies
To which they all adhere.

To me, it’s clear the Mormon Church
Is not the Word of God.
It’s nothing but a sham and hoax,
So obvious a fraud.

So difficult to understand
How anyone can stay
Within a church so clearly false
And give their lives away.

To those still trapped within the grasp

JOSEPH SMITH, THE MORMON PROPHET - LDS Hymn Parody #65

Here's another LDS Hymn Parody.  This one speaks of Joseph Smith and the fact that a study of actual history shows he was a treasure hunter, money digger, charlatan, shyster and a total fraud - and that he was clearly not a Prophet and Seer as the Mormon Church claims.  In my opinion, Joseph Smith initially made up Mormonism as a way to gain power and money - and that led to his introduction of polygamy when he was caught "in a compromising position" with Fanny Alger who he claimed was his first polygamous wife.  I find it interesting that Oliver Cowdery felt Joseph's "marriage" to Fanny Alger was actually a "dirty, nasty, filthy affair," and not a polygamous marriage.  The timeline that a study of history shows is that after Oliver confronted Joseph about this "affair," Joseph announced that he had been commanded by God to practice polygamy.  Very convenient (as the SNL Church Lady would say).  In fact, Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer were both later excommunicated from the Mormon Church for speaking out against Joseph's practice of polygamy (and later polyandry, the practice of marrying women who were already married to living husbands). 

It is an actual fact that Joseph Smith married 33 women - 10 of whom were teenage girls, and 11 of whom were already married to living husbands.  Just look at this website - http://www.wivesofjosephsmith.org/ - which contains well-documented historical references concerning each polygamous wife (and polyandrous wives as well).  None of this is "Anti-Mormon Propaganda," and in fact was created and is maintained by an active member of the Mormon Church.  And yet I am sure that this website, along with any information along these lines, is considered "Anti-Mormon Propaganda" by members of the Mormon Church.  Even on the Mormon Church's own genealogy website (http://www.familysearch.org/) are shown 24 wives of Joseph Smith, and if actual research is done on that website alone, many of his polyandrous marriages are shown.  Th fact that none of this is discussed in any church meetings is very suspect to me as is the fact that I was a member for 52 years and never even knew this information.  In fact, I never knew about the polyandrous marriages until I was already out of the church for 3 years (and only learned of them when researching on http://www.familysearch.org/) - and I am certain that the majority of active Mormons today don't know about this historical fact - or many of the other sordid details of Mormon Church history either.

What I find even sadder than the fact that members of the Mormon Church treat any type of negative information about the Mormon Church and its history as "Anti-Mormon Propaganda" is the fact that they mindlessly voice the theme that we just don't understand why the Lord commanded Joseph Smith and others to practice polygamy.  They say that God works in mysterious ways - and that God's ways are not our ways so we need to just accept these things and not question.  But to me, the repetition of that line of thought is nothing more than pure denial.  Personally, I don't want to live in a state of denial.  I much prefer an informed existence - one in which I don't close my eyes to the actual truth and just go along.  For me, the main reward of my apostasy is living an informed existence - knowing that I finally found the actual truth and am now living an authentic life.

Mormonism came from that,

THE MORMON LEGACY - LDS Hymn Parody #64

Here's another LDS hymn parody.  This one highlights, once again, my opinion that since the Mormon Church has numerous obvious flaws (and in my mind is actually false), Mormons everywhere need to stop burying their heads in the sand, blindly following what the church tells them to believe, and do some actual research so they can find the actual truth.  To blindly believe, without researching independently, on your own, is simply not wise.  Would anyone buy a car without doing research on its origins and history?  No, that would be absurd.  Would anyone purchase a house without having an inspection and title report done - and look closely at its foundation to insure they have avoided any potential problems?  No, obviously not.  And yet Mormons just go along, believing what they are told, not doing any independent research - just believing and having faith.

I find this mindset to be appalling.  Intellectual curiousity is paramount for a thinking individual.  To be told that you can't do any research outside of approved parameters is not only ridiculous but is also one of the signs of a cult.  If a religious organization has nothing to hide then it doesn't matter what people look at, what they read, or what they research on their own.  I really wish more Mormons would think about that instead of accepting it all blindly.  Instead they choose to "just believe" - which, unfortunately, is The Mormon Legacy.

It's been 2-1/2 months since I wrote my last hymn parody.  My, how times flies.  I guess I've been creatively blocked (most likely by what has been going on in my life, which is a very long story).  But since I'm determined to write at least 75 LDS hymn parodies, it's really good to feel the creative juices flowing again.

So here is my latest LDS hymn parody... very self-explanatory, so I won't go into any further explanation...

Is there truth in Mormonism?
Many think it’s filled with lies.
Just look at the sordid history,

ANOTHER "ANONYMOUS" COMMENT...

This "Anonymous" comment was left on my blog this morning in response to one of my LDS hymn parodies -- "In the Mormon Church"...

     "It is interesting to me that when a Mormon leaves the church he/she cannot do so quietly. So often there is slander, whining, disgruntled words, kicking and screaming. Why? It has been my experience that when people who at one time accepted the fulness of the gospel choose to leave it all behind there is only room for hate left in their hearts. After reading your poem all I can feel is your hatred and contempt and that is the opposite of Christ's teachings and Mormon teachings. It is so sad to see your journey took you to this dark place. May you find your way to light and happiness some day."

What is interesting to me is that this person posted these comments with an "Anonymous" persona.  If this person has such strong feelings about this subject, then why not include their name and email address so we could communicate directly?  I guess it's easy to berate a person's motives and expound on such subjects anonymously.  But since this person chose to post his/her comments anonymously, I'll leave my comments here and hope they return to this so-called "dark place."

Dear Anonymous:

So let's see.  According to you, anyone who speaks negatively about the Mormon Church is doing so because they are resorting to "slander, whining, disgruntled words, kicking and screaming."  Is telling the truth slander?  Is explaining why you are against something whining?  Is the act of expressing a person's opinion about a subject termed as disgruntled words?  And kicking and screaming - that is the act of a child, not an adult who in realizing that the church in which they were born and raised is a fraudulent organization decides to no longer associate themself with it and try to educate others of the obvious lies and deceit as well as the realities of its doctrines and tenets.

I realize that you, as an obvious devout Mormon, and the religion organization to which you belong, would like it much better if I had left the church "quietly."  But that is not what is best for me.  I spent 52 years inside Mormonism, and when I began to discover the truth behind its history (which was prior to, during and after going on a Mormon Church History Tour in July 2001), I was flabbergasted and almost despondent.  Initially, I tried to convince myself that I just didn't understand it all - that perhaps if I studied more, it would become more clear.  So for the next two years, I spent a lot of time researching, studying, and questioning what I had discovered before I realized that what I had felt initially was right, that the Mormon Church is a fraudulent religious organization built on an enormous stack of lies - and I finally decided that I could no longer associate myself with a religious organization that plays so fast and loose with the truth.  At first after leaving, I was very quiet about what I had discovered - but over time, I began to realize that by remaining quiet, I was helping to perpetuate the lies and deceit by not speaking out against it.  My decision to actively speak out against the Mormon Church was not made lightly - and it does not equate with only having "only room for hate left in my heart," but rather recognizing the need to try to help others to see the reality behind the Mormon Curtain.

Anonymous, I'm very glad that you could feel my hatred and contempt for Mormonism by reading my poem.  The fact is that I do hate Mormonism and all it attempts to do to people - but I do not hate Mormons because there are many very good people who are trapped inside its walls, including many of my family members.  I am not "Anti-Mormon" but rather "Anti-Mormonism."  And although I am speaking out against the Mormon Church, that doesn't mean that I only have room for hate left in my heart.  Leaving Mormonism behind and being able to speak out against it has relieved me of years of feeling confused and frustrated by so many doctrines and beliefs that make absolutely no sense, and a portrayal of its history that is filled with lies and is completely white-washed.  The place of light and happiness of which you speak is not inside the Mormon Church but outside of it - where a person can use their intellectual curiosity to do actual independent research, make their own decisions about its truthfulness or lack thereof, and choose their own direction.  That is not allowed inside Mormonism, but only outside of its belief system.

If anything is the opposite of Christ's teachings, it is lying, deceiving, shading the truth, and attempting to get people to believe in a religious organization for its own purposes and financial gain.  And as far as not being able to leave the church alone, let me relate this quote:

     "Some of you are probably thinking, "Why don't you just leave them (the Mormons) alone?" So I ask you, if you saw a thirsty man drinking water from a well you knew to be poisoned, would you let him continue to drink or would you guide him to a safe well? ~Christopher Miller

Since it is my belief that Mormonism is extremely poisonous to its members and potential investigators, I am sharing my thoughts and beliefs with whomever wishes to read them.  And I am not doing so anonymously...

LIMERICK ala MORMONISM

I was looking through some old papers and came across an unfinished poem - actually, my attempt at a limerick with an Ex-Mormon twist.

So I finished it today, and here is the end product:

LIMERICK ala MORMONISM

There once was a prophet named Joe,
Who had an enormous ego,
He made up a church,
But if you research,
The flaws in it will start to show.

A ladies’ man was Brother Joe,
And he did not like hearing No.
Professing God’s will,
His needs he’d fulfill.
His tactics were sordid and low.

A sexual predator loose
As women and girls he’d seduce.
His wandering eye
He’d try to deny,
But simply, there was no excuse.

With sex as his ultimate aim,
Polygamy became his game.
Though Emma refused,
And was not amused,
Soon 33 wives he would claim.

And now Mormonism proclaims
Through media and its campaigns
That it is mainstream,
A marketing scheme,
So clear to a person with brains.

And so with their current slogan,
The billboards say “I’m a Mormon.”
Commercials to see
Each night on TV,
As Pandora’s Box they open.

With history shaded with lies,
And doctrine it hides and denies,
It doesn’t make sense
To mount a defense
When obvious truth they disguise.

And then there's the City Creek Mall,
Now open for business to all.
No homes for the poor,
But shopping galore?
What happened to the proud will fall?

But profits gigantic they seek,
From this brand new mall, City Creek.
With condos high-end,
The money they spend
Will add to the Mormon Mystique.

Professing that they are Christian
Takes more than a passing mention
Of Jesus’ name,
It's not what they claim
There behind the Mormon curtain.

CITY CREEK CENTER in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah

GRAND OPENING - MARCH 22, 2012

So City Creek Center is now open for business!!  Directly across the street from Temple Square, this very elaborate mall spans three square blocks in downtown Salt Lake City (approx. 23 acres).

Granted, it is very beautiful - and it adds a touch of elegance to the city.  High-end stores, shops and trendy boutiques (like Macy's, Nordstroms, Tiffany's, Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, Hugo Boss, BeBe, BCBG Maxazria, Porsche Designs, and on and on).  Restaurants.  Retractable roof in the atrium area.  Performing Arts Center.  Theatres.  Luxury condos.  Sports and Fitness Center.  Office buildings.  Banks.  Grocery store.  And on and on...

The fact is, the Mormon Church built this Mall via one of its "real estate arms," City Creek Reserve Inc. (which I find very interesting).  According to varying reports, it cost somewhere between $1.5 billion and $5 billion dollars, depending from what source you obtain the figure.  But regardless of whether it cost $1.5 billion or $5 billion, that's a whole lot of money to spend on a mall no matter how you look at it - especially when the church could have spent it on helping the poor that they profess to care about.  From what I have read, from 1985 to 2011, the LDS church spent $1.212 billion on humanitarian aid.  That means that this mall cost much more than what the church spent on humanitarian aid in 26 years.  To me, that's mind-boggling.

Even the condos they built that included in the City Creek complex are "high-end," and not affordable by average people by any means, let alone poor people. The message this gives is very contrary to what the Mormon Church supposedly stands for -- anti-materialism, garishness, alcohol use (since restaurants there are serving alcohol), etc.  It certainly gives the aura of affluence, especially since only affluent people will be able to shop there - or live there. Not the average Mormon for sure. Someone who lives in SLC posted something a couple of days ago on Facebook about having walked through it and feeling like they were on Rodeo Drive.

Just look at this website -- http://www.downtownrising.com/ -- which, by the way, is being sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (in other words, "paid for").

And so, in honor of the opening of City Creek Center, here is a reprisal of an LDS hymn parody that I wrote in June 2011.

THEY, THE BUILDERS OF THE CENTER
Sung to the tune of They, the Builders of the Nation, #36

They, the builders of the Center,
Spent $5 billion as of now.
Lots of stores to do your shopping,
Nordstrom, Macy's, take a bow.
Building new exclusive condos,
Costs are rising as we speak,
Rising upward, ever upward,
This expensive City Creek.

Though they say no tithing monies
Have been used to build the Mall,
They must think we're really stupid,
Idiots, for that to fall.
They're transforming Salt Lake City,
Modern and extremely chic,
Doesn't fit the "Mormon image,"
This expensive City Creek.

Mormons Inc. is even truer
Than it ever was before.
Its net worth was $30 billion
In the 90's, now much more.
But they try to keep it quiet,
Do not ask and they won't speak
Of their many "wise investments,"
As they're building City Creek.

Such religious implications,
Christian charity they boast.
Pay your tithing, fill the coffers,
Profit is what matters most.
Helping people, so they'll tell you,
Aid the poor whose lives are bleak.
But the poor won't live in condos
At expensive City Creek.

Follow us or you will suffer,
So the Mormons tell us all.
No Celestial glory given
To the heathens who will fall.
But on Sundays, stores will open,
On the Lord's day, every week.
What examples are these Mormons
In their Mall called City Creek.

Word of Wisdom, so important,
Coffee, tea and alcohol
Are considered evil items,
Said to be a huge downfall.
But at City Creek they're selling
All of that, just take a peek,
Word of Wisdom out the window
Everywhere in City Creek.

Grand hypocrisy inflated
What the Mormons daily tout.
God's commandments must be followed
As they preach, and scream, and shout.
But don't point out contradictions
In their teachings, what they speak.
And be sure to never mention

ISN'T GOOGLE WONDERFUL??!!!

I LOVE GOOGLE!!!  And the Internet in general.  The accessibility of information is phenomenal.  Being able to share my thoughts is amazing... and then discovering that people are actually reading my writings is absolutely incredible.  Sometimes I have felt like I'm writing this stuff into a black hole, wondering who (if anyone) is really reading it... but then something like what happened last week occurs, and I know that it is all worthwhile...

Last week, I got an email from a woman who had found my blog by using Google and the search term "temple wedding."  She is a non-Mormon but has a daughter who got baptized into the Mormon Church when she was 16, during a very rough period of her life.  She was basically "love-bombed" (a cult term) by Mormon people who knew her and her situation.  Her daughter is now 20 and is dating a Mormon man who wants her to marry him, and from how her mother describes him, he is definitely less-than-desirable on many levels (and not just the fact that he is Mormon).

Of course, my heart goes out to this woman and her daughter.  It is always difficult for a parent to watch his/her children make what they are very sure are mistakes, particularly when the child is convinced that their parent(s) are wrong.  During our email exchange, this woman asked me about my journey away from Mormonism, why I left, and several questions about its practices and policies.  I'm trying to offer support even though, obviously, there is nothing I can do other than that.

But the upside of this is that she found my blog, has read parts of it, and actually emailed me.  It gives me hope that others looking for answers about Mormonism and support in dealings with the Mormon Church and its members will also find my blog.  And that would be wonderful...

Obviously, though, there are some bad aspects to the Internet.  I hear and read stories all the time about young girls getting hoowinked by some older guy pretending to be something he is not.  Yes, anyone can say they are anything on the Internet - which reminds me this cartoon:

But overall, the Internet (and Google) has revolutionized the way we obtain information.  Whereas years ago, people had to go to great lengths to do research, today it is just a click away.  And that is remarkable.

And as far as information about Mormonism goes, just remember...

Since this LDS Hymn Parody is very self-explanatory, I won't go into a lot of detail but to say (again) that the Mormon Church is completely based on lies, and was created by a charlatan con-artist flim-flam man.  But sadly, that fact is just the tip of the iceberg...

THE PROPHET IS SPEAKING - LDS Hymn Parody #61

Recently, I was looking at http://www.mormon.org/ - and came across the following comments made by various Mormons about their Prophet:

Brett Jones said, "The current Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Thomas S. Monson. He has been called of God to fill this sacred calling as the Lords mouth piece and serves faithfully and diligently to serve all of Gods children, just as God would have him do."

Mark said, "God through out the ages has spoken to His children through living prophets. We have a prophet today, named Thomas S. Monson. He is a prophet just like Moses, Abraham or Peter."

Dylan said, "God calls a prophet in every dispinsation, they lead and guide and speak of god. They recieve revelation through god to teach and run the church. They are the same and have the same athority the the prophets do in the Bible and Book of Mormon. The prophet today is Thomas S.Monson and he has two counselors to help him. Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F.Uctdorf And their are 12 men or Apostles as well."

...and many, many more.  Of course, one of the most famous quotes about the Mormon Prophet is, "When the Prophet speaks, the debate is over."  Obviously this quote is designed to not only shut people up, but to squelch their desire to research and question anything that goes on in the Mormon Church.  A sad commentary...

Of course, when I was devout Mormon, I "just believed" that what the Prophet said was actually from God.  But now that I've come to the realization that the Mormon Church is laced with many lies, I have changed my opinion in that regard. 

And actually, since doing the research that made me come to the conclusion that I had been duped my entire life, I have also realized that the reason the Mormon Church puts so much emphasis on what the "current Prophet" says is that they don't want people relying (or even reading) what previous Prophet have said.  I mean, look at the Journal of Discourses.  That volume of books has some very scary quotes from previous Prophets - and the Mormon Church wants to downplay all that as much as possible.  

My newest LDS Hymn Parody (below) speaks not only about what the Prophet says but also what the Mormon Machine is up to these days.  The billboards and TV commercials are an example of their frantic campaign to try to bolster their numbers in response to the fact that they are losing members right and left due to people beginning to see the lies laced throughout Mormonism and the way in which the Mormon Church plays so fast and loose with the truth.  And we can thank the Internet for that -- YAY, GOOGLE!!!

And so, here is my latest LDS Hymn Parody (#61... and counting!!)...

THE PROPHET IS SPEAKING

Sung to the tune of The Day Dawn is Breaking, #52

The Prophet is speaking, and his words are reeking
Of obvious lies from the Mormon machine.
It’s clear from my research that it’s not the true church,
Without any doubt, the deception is seen.

(Chorus)
It’s not the truth, it’s filled with lies,
The cover-up is no surprise.
Although they say to just believe,
It’s very clear the lies they weave.

They tell all the members to be their defenders,
To stand up for truth and to just turn away
From evil apostates and anyone who states
That the Mormon Church honesty does betray.

I see all the billboards and so many discords
Begin to sound off as my brain starts to ache.
The money they’re spending seems to be unending

Pretty self-explanatory... follows my recurring theme that Mormonism is just a pile of lies, made up by Joseph Smith and perpetuated by many others since his time...

Oh, Holy Crap, it’s filled with lies,
The Mormonism fraud,
And though they say it was restored,
It did not come from God.
